Why do false claims spread faster than corrections?
A quiet revision looks like concealment even when it is not
a walkthrough with stand-ins — a demonstration, not a finding · root cause · sealed
It significantly influences
The bodies that issue guidance also fund those who check it
certified · 10 yes · 3 no · 2 abstained
What significantly influences it
Guidance was stated more confidently than the evidence supported
certified · 13 yes · 2 no
Judged not to be linked
Advice must be given before the evidence is complete or it is not advice
judged not to · 1 yes · 14 no
Nobody is assigned to look for evidence that the advice was wrong
judged not to · 0 yes · 14 no · 1 abstained
Officials learned that hedging gets them attacked from both sides
judged not to · 2 yes · 13 no
Declaring an interest has replaced avoiding one
judged not to · 3 yes · 11 no · 1 abstained
The first statement sets the frame and every revision fights it
judged not to · 1 yes · 12 no · 2 abstained
A correction arrives long after the decision it should have changed
judged not to · 2 yes · 12 no · 1 abstained
Nuance is stripped between the briefing and the headline
judged not to · 3 yes · 10 no · 2 abstained
