Free for rooms of up to 100 people. Anyone can open a room and invite people, with no card and no contract. You pay when you need bigger rooms, more questions open at once, or one list of people for a whole organisation.

A plan belongs to an organisation: a team, a ward, a school, a company. You name it when you choose a plan; it takes a minute. If a plan lapses, nothing is deleted: you can still read everything, you just cannot open more than the free plan allows.

Every plan runs the same method: you decide the question, the room and what happens after; the room decides the map.

Every plan includes

THE METHOD

Eight kinds of map — root causes (the default), a future, actions, steps in order, claims and reasons, evidence, weighing options, priorities

Seven stages — generate, clarify, cluster, select, structure, map, actions; every link kept at three quarters of the votes

Splits referred, not averaged — a pair a group cannot settle goes to other groups, then is published as contested

Any number of rooms on one question — each room builds its own map, and the maps fold into one; the Atlas joins every question

What other rooms found, one way — a private room can take in the cards from listed rooms on its question; nothing of its own goes out

TAKING PART

Anonymous — cards, votes and side discussions carry no names inside a room

Round-robin turns — one card per round: your next card waits until others have had their turn

Informed conversation — everyone writes a first card before seeing the wall, then reads the wall before writing again; joining closes when writing does, so nobody votes on cards they never saw explained

Side discussion on every card and pair — a short thread beside each card, each pair and each proposed action

Optional video call per group — a Jitsi call for each group at Clarify and Structure; no accounts, not recorded

Groups dealt by lot — a large room is split into groups of the method’s size, mixed by perspective where members give one

At each person’s own pace — in the browser, on a phone or a computer; nothing to install

MODERATION AND SAFETY

Second pair of eyes — an optional AI reading of each card and turn before it posts: if it reads as an attack on a person, the author alone is told, and edits or posts anyway

Clarifications checked — the same reader asks whether a clarification says what the card means, rather than arguing for it

Who can join — open link, invite link, entry code, an email domain, one confirmed address per member, vouching by members, or approval by the steward

Private, unlisted or public — and results can be held until a date, or until the map settles

Spam removed — the instance owner can delete an abusive room for everyone

RUNNING IT

Question guidance — the question is framed for its kind of map, and an AI check suggests a better wording when one would help

Paced stages and shared timers — the steward closes each stage, or a clock does, the same for every room on the question

Email invitations and reminders — invite by address; remind members who have not acted yet

Cards translated between rooms — a card arriving from a room in another language is translated, with the original kept

Steward’s course and walkthroughs — learn the method on the situations a steward meets, then run a room with simulated members

RESULTS

A map, deepest first — root causes and the disagreements kept on it, with every claim at its own address

Minds moved — each member’s private stance before and after, in their own words

Exports and embeds — every judged pair with its votes (CSV), every claim (JSON), the map as a picture or a live embed

API — members can take part through the API under the same rules as the web pages

What is not on this page

Facilitation. The software runs the process; it does not run the room. If you want someone who has done this before to frame the question, seat the constituency and hold the stages to time, that is a separate engagement, priced by the day. Ask.
Model costs. The clarifying questions, the second pair of eyes and the source check use Claude Sonnet 5. They run on this instance’s key at no charge to you, within reason; on any plan an organisation may use its own key instead, and on Enterprise it does.
Credit. On every plan, results you publish credit True Causes with a link to the room. Pictures, embeds and exports carry the credit already. This is not white-label software.
Refunds. Cancel any time and the plan runs to the end of what you paid. Payments are not refunded except at our discretion. Terms · Privacy.
