LESSON 4 OF 8 · TABLE 2: AVOIDING JUDGEMENT, ENCOURAGING QUESTIONS

Clarify

Each author says what their card means. The one rule of this stage: nobody says whether a card is right. Judgement of merit comes later, from the whole group, one pair at a time.

In a card’s side chat someone writes “This is obviously the real cause, the rest are noise.” What do you do?
✗ Not that one. The method’s answer is marked below; read why yours is not it.
Hide the turn — it breaks the stage’s rule.✗ not this
Hiding is for abuse. This is enthusiasm in the wrong stage. Hidden turns also carry no lesson; the person learns nothing.
Nothing yet — the reader will have shown the author it reads as judging merit, and the round robin means they cannot post again until others have.✓ what the method does
The stage’s rule is carried by the reader, author-facing, before a turn posts. If it posted anyway, the round robin limits the damage. Intervene only if it repeats.
Reply in the chat that judgement is not allowed here.✗ not this · your pick
You would be the second person judging in a thread about not judging, and the steward waits for their turn like anyone.
ON THIS PLATFORM
At Clarify the reader checks that a clarification says what a card means rather than argues for it. An author sees a count of unanswered questions in their card’s thread. Two wordings become one claim only when two people confirm it.
“The reader” in these lessons is the language model the platform runs over a question or a card before it posts. It speaks only to the author, as a suggestion the author may take or ignore; it blocks nothing, decides nothing, and never reports to you. Where a lesson says the reader handled something, it means the author was shown a suggestion — not that anything was enforced.
